Health and Safety Protocols

We want to thank you for your patronage all these years. Your health and wellness is our #1 priority. With the spread of health concerns around the world, we have a responsibility to do our part in educating our patients with the best information possible, and taking proactive measures to ensure everyone stays safe at the clinic, and in our homes (ours and yours).
Having said that, we want to make sure that our patients who are coming in, are making sure to take precautions and making sure we are not sick when we come in to the office. It’s a good rule of thumb during this time even for any public places as to slow the spread of sickness.

To help protect everyone from the potential threat of illness we are asking that any patient who has traveled outside the US in the past 2 weeks or been in contact with someone who has, it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment. Also, those experiencing potential symptoms such as fever of 99.5 or above, difficulty breathing, dry coughing, it will be necessary to reschedule and possibly seek advice from your Primary Care Doctor as these are the most well known symptoms of influenza or even COVID-19 aka Corona-virus. We hope you understand that we are here for you and taking precautions to prevent us from closing completely are necessary.

In order to further protect our patients and staff, we are limiting contact by asking that only patients come in to the office. Those providing rides should expect to be asked to wait in their vehicles. Of course, if the patient is a child, we ask that only one parent or guardian be present with the child, and any other children that may normally need to come along, the parents should make other arrangements. Caregivers who must stay with the patient may also be an exemption but only if necessary, to help lift or speak on behalf of the patient.

New Check In Procedure: We start by asking patients to wait in their cars and text or call us upon arrival. You will be asked screening questions about your travel and potential exposure over the past couple of weeks, possible illness you are experiencing and symptoms involved. Based on these answers, we then prepare the room for you by disinfecting, then we come and get you, lead you to the wash room to wash your hands and bring you right to your room for your visit.
For those who are unable to come in due to illness or just feel it safer to stay home during this time, we are offering a visit via Skype or Facetime where we can address concerns and you can speak to Dr. Pirotta. Some insurances are accepting this billing method, and some are not, so we can schedule you and review what coverage is available and what other options are possible to make sure that you can still receive care even when stuck at home! The only requirement is a computer with webcam/microphone like most laptops have or a smartphone with Skype or Facetime.

Normally, we love to allow families to come together in to the treatment room and meet the Doctor. Unfortunately due to our current circumstances, we must make these changes in efforts to slow or eliminate the spread of sickness.

The CDC has also developed a link for self assessment should you find the need for clarification.
